I have to use device manager to remove it then scan for hardware changes which reinstalls it and everything it then fine. Any ideas or suggestion welcome. See: Update a driver for hardware that isn't working properly. Was this reply helpful? Yes No. Sorry this didn't help. Thanks for your feedback. Hi, thanks for the suggestions.

I did forget to mention that i installed Windows7 64bit a while ago on day of release and it's been running faultlessly ever since. It replaced vista 32 bit. It's only the last couple of days this has been happening.

Verion number 4. I suspect it could be either a bios problem, battery exhausted maybe,as its the orginal cr button cell that came with the PC from new. My problem is similar, but it lies in Windows I have never had any issues with this Dimension. It accepted W10 without difficulties, and the Broadcom driver was carried over with each upgrade - until now.

Device manager says the Ethernet controller is working, but I can't get it to look for an updated driver for obvious reasons. I've been trying to find a driver with another computer, but so far have failed. Broadcom is not helpful. Other third-party sites all want to diagnose it online.

The update also broke my wifi connection, and it took me awhile to figure out I had to disable the broadcom, disable the wifi Intel Wireless WiFi link AGN , then remove the wifi adaptor, then reboot sigh.

Thank you for the information. Since your WiFi is now working properly, we suggest updating all the device drivers. You can visit your manufacturer's website for a complete list of the updated drivers for your device. I am an Engineer in the Windows Networking team. I can confirm that there is a bug in the Creators Update that affects the compatibility with the Broadcom x driver.

We are working on resolving this until it is resolved. Meanwhile following the steps mentioned in this thread will work around the issue if you can call disabling Ethernet a valid workaround until we have a real fix available. In reply to jvoric's post on April 30, My problem with x was that it was turned off in the bios. After Windows 7 x64 installed its own driver. A couple of weeks ago I installed the latest major upgrade, Creators Update, version Now I can't access the internet.
